We can be the change and we will be the change.

How Can We All Help

How Can We All Help

It all begins with a smile and a look of acknowledgment or even a hello. Humanize people experiencing homelessness. We are all kind to one another simply doing small gestures can make or even boost someone experiencing homelessness. Advocate change the negative narrative around you, as well as listen to those experiencing the hardship as well as people working on the front lines. Acknowledge the problem of homelessness, do not ignore the problem or leave it for experts or the government to deal with because we need to work faster and together. We all our one community. We need to begin to encourage more education on people experiencing homelessness in our schools and our community. Education will help our younger generation and ourselves be more equipt to deal with homelessness and kids will reject the negative narrative. This will help destigmatize homelessness and defuse negative attitudes. If we all reject stigmas more individuals will not be afraid to help people experiencing homelessness and will approach the crisis with more humanity. Finally, we need to approve strategies to help people experiencing homelessness. That does not mean just adding more shelters and housing places but checking in on people experiencing homelessness. For the crisis of homelessness to improve we need help at each stage of the process for people experiencing homeless leaving the streets or shelters. Coming off the streets is incredibly hard and people experiencing homelessness tend to struggle more in housing trying to adjust to their new life. With mental health experts there for them, the process would become easier for people experiencing homelessness. For the homeless crisis to begin to end we all need to work together and not just rely on social workers or the government.
